Title: City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1)
Author: Cassandra Clare
Published: March 27th 2007 by Margaret K. McElderry Books
Add It: Goodreads
Purchase: Amazon, Barnes and Noble
Rating: 5 stars
Summary from goodreads: When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .
Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.
What I think: Before starting a book I usually look at the reviews, this book had
gotten some alternating feedback. Some people hated it and some loved it, there
was not really an in-between. A bit nervous to see my own response I started
and I have to say that I totally LOVED it!
The book has a fairly slow start but after a few chapters the plots develops and the story becomes more arousing. There was this whole shocking new world that opened in front of Clary and this world is just totally awesome. Shadow hunters seem very, very interesting to me, although they are a bit cocky about them being so amazing because they can see both worlds and humans can't.
The end of the book makes you want to start reading the sequel immediately. I can't wait to see what will happen in the storyline. How will all relationships develop, will all relations keep on existing and will Clary get used to being a shadow hunter. So many questions and so little time to read books..
Of course there were also some parts that where less attractive to me.. ** SPOILER ALERT **

How
the hell are Clary and Jace related, it is such a weird turn to whatever it was
going at first. I just really hope that it isn't true! I love those two
together.
This definitely
is a good read; I could not put the book away. There are so many twists and
turns in this story that you just have to keep on reading to see what
adventures lays around the next corner. So all I can say is, have fun
reading!
